Dolores Reinhold McMurtrey - 07/15/2002 Dolores Reinhold McMurtrey - 07/15/2002 DOLORES REINHOLD McMURTREY RIGBY, ID -- Dolores Kae Russell Reinhold McMurtrey, 69, of Rigby, died July 14, 2002, at her home. She was born November 4, 1932, in Idaho Falls, to Arthur Payne Russell and Leah Phillips Russell. After her parents divorce when she was three, she was raised by her father and stepmother, Eva Russell. She graduated from Idaho Falls High School and Idaho State University. She married Lynn H. Reinhold August 27, 1950, in Idaho Falls. They raised four children. Lynn died in 1979. Dolores married Arnold McMurtrey March 20, 1987 in Idaho Falls. Dolores was very active in her children's lives as they grew up – she served as den leader, Girl Scout leader, Sunday School teacher, homeroom mother, and PTA President. She was also involved with the League of Women Voters and the Democratic Party. Later she was involved with the United Way campaign and shared the E. F. McDermott Award with her husband in 1994. Dolores worked at Skyline High School in the Social Studies Resource Center for several years. She enjoyed working with the teachers, but especially the students. She was a drug and alcohol counselor with CARES. With several other people she started the Phoenix Center, a drug and alcohol treatment center. Later she was the executive director of the Alcohol Rehabilitation Association, Inc. (ARA) until retiring in 1989. Dolores was a Master Gardener and enjoyed flower gardening and day trips around the area. She was an avid reader. She was a wonderful mother, loving wife, faithful friend, and mentor to many. She and her sense of humor will be missed by all. Private Graveside Services will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. The family will hold a celebration of her life on Friday, July 19, 2002, from 5 to 10 p.m. in the park behind their home in Rigby. Please call 745-0548 for directions.
