Dolores "Dee" Muir

Dolores (Dee) Ruth Muir was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on June 1, 1935, to Ester and Roy Cowden. She moved to Pocatello, Idaho, in 1937 when her dad went to work for the Union Pacific. She attended public schools in Pocatello and also attended Idaho State University where she met and married her lifelong love, Vincent Muir, in 1954. They lived in Monterey, California, when Vince was stationed at Fort Ord. They returned to Idaho Falls in 1955.

Dee worked as a cashier in Pocatello at the Chief Theater during her high school years. After returning to Idaho Falls, she worked for Boise Cascade Corporation as a bookkeeper before going to Argonne National Laboratory at the site. She remained there until retiring as procurement manager in 1990. After retirement, she and Vince moved to Sedona, Arizona, to enjoy golf together year-round.

Dee’s hobbies were golf, cooking, and needlework. Her many plastic canvas projects were enjoyed by all who saw them. After Vince passed, she moved from Sedona to Morningstar Senior Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Her hobbies expanded to adult coloring which brought out a latent talent which she and others enjoyed.

Dee and Vince had two children, Vicky Lynn Jennings (Greg) and Douglas Roy Muir (Carolyn). Her parents, Vince, and one sister, Betty Long, preceded her in death. Betty’s daughter, Jane, grew close to Dolores as her niece.

At her request, there will be no service.

Please play a round of golf and dedicate it to Dee and Vince.
