Dione Kunsaitis

With profound sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Dione Kunsaitis, 73, of Rexburg, on September 5, 2025. She passed away surrounded by her loving family at Idaho Falls Community Hospital.

Dione was born July 29, 1952, in San Diego, California, to William Plass Owen and Luanne Mercer Owen.

She was known for her strength and commitment to her beliefs, love for her family, and her passion for horseback riding and rescuing dogs. She always saved as many as she could.

She was devoted to her many grandchildren, always finding time for them as often as she could. She will be remembered as a fierce woman and countless memories she created with her family.

Dione is survived by her son, Brandon (Paul) Lazano of San Diego, CA; son, Chad (Laura) Melanese of Kuna, ID; son, Ryan (Sandi) Melanese of Rigby, ID; son, Vincent Melanese of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Lance (Arynne) Kunsaitis of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Ashley (Cole) Allison of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Ondra (Mike) Manzer of Mesa, AZ; sister, Ingrid Owen Beacon of Oakland, CA; sister, Leana (Bob) Eakle of Jonesboro, AR; sister, Delyse Froehlich of St. Anthony, ID; brother, Elliott (Christy) Owen of Rupert, ID; brother, Devan Owen of Boise, ID; and 13 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Luanne Owen; and brother-in-law, Lin Beacon.

A celebration of life for close family and friends will be held at a date to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to a local animal shelter in Dione’s name.
