Dieter Horst Albert Tretzen

Dieter Horst Albert Tretzen, 82, of Ammon, passed away September 23, 2024, at The Gables of Ammon Assisted Living Center. He was under the care of Aspen Home Health and Hospice.

Dieter was born January 14, 1942, in Bayreuth, Germany, to Gotthold Albert Friedrich Tretzen and Luise  Pollach Tretzen. He grew up and attended primary school in Bayreuth, Germany, and then attended and graduated from high school in Boise, ID, after immigrating to the United States with his family.  In 1962, he became a U.S. citizen prior to joining the U.S. Army. He served in Germany and Korea and was honorably discharged from the Army in 1967, as a Staff Sergeant.

After service, he attended Auerswald Business University where he earned a bachelor's degree in advanced accounting. He and his family lived in Washington state where he worked for a number of construction companies, including Quigg Brothers in Aberdeen, WA, where he served as the company CFO. Dieter and his wife, Katy, lived in several other states before moving to Idaho Falls in 2007.

On October 26, 1964, he married Kathleen Ann LeClair in Boise, Idaho. Dieter and Kathleen made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Dieter worked as a CFO and Controller for Burns Concrete, Inc.

He was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, boating, watching Seahawks games, attending church services, and spending time with friends.

Dieter is survived by his son, Bruce Tretzen of Renton, WA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Kathleen Tretzen.
