DIDI BROWN
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Didi Irmgard Bertha Margarete Dziabas Brown, 87, peacefully passed away September 27, 2007, at her home in Parkwood Meadows.
She was born December 15, 1919, in Sao Paulo, Brazil to Ernesto Eugen Johan Dziabas and Katharina Martha Rau Dziabas and lived there the first six years of her life. Her mother, brother Bodo and she moved to Germany in 1925. She loved all sports, especially volleyball and swimming. She attended schools in Germany, graduating from Goethe-Oberlyzeum. She continued her education at the Language Institute and worked as a translator and interpreter for the U.S. military in Europe. She was fluent in four languages.
In 1946 she married Guy Monroe Dodge at Eferding, Austria. Didi came to the U.S. as a "war bride," and was naturalized as an American citizen on June 24, 1949. Andre Dee was born to them in 1947. Didi and Monte were later divorced.
She married Marvin Hyatt Brown Oct. 20, 1952, at Idaho Falls. She was a mother and a homemaker and also worked at the American Cyanamid Co., worked for Parley Rigby, DDS., Industrial Contractors Co., and the Post-Register. She then became a realtor, obtained her Broker's License and worked with Lloyd Brown Realty and Century 21 Skyline. She retired in 1981, having enjoyed 21 years in the business. She and Marvin were members of the Elks Club.
Shortly after their marriage, Marvin worked in Greenland as an electrician, and Didi and Andre lived with Marvin's parents in Caldwell, ID. After his return, the family bought a small ranch in the Yakima Valley, WA, and lived there for 4 years. Renee was born in Sunnyside, WA during this time. In 1957 they returned to Idaho Falls.
Didi enjoyed playing cards, traveling, studying languages, and loved all animals. In Washington, Marvin and Didi bought calves to raise to sell at maturity, but Didi named every one of the cows and would not let Marvin sell them when they got big. She was a tennis enthusiast and loved camping and fishing in Island Park, where she spent many happy summers. She loved classical music, especially piano and opera. She loved to get together with friends and play cards, laugh and tell stories. She was a wonderful friend to many people.

8 Grandchildren: Kirk Dee (Angie) Andrus, Celeste (Dustin) Barron, Idaho Falls, Alecia Brown, Murray, UT, J. Chad (Elisa) Parry, Zurich, Switzerland, Jeff C. (Sarah) Parry, Anacortes, WA, David H. (Mandy) Parry, Laveen, AZ, Jordyn K. (Chris) Starks, Oceanside, CA, Jason L. Parry, Logan, UT;
4 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and half-brother.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2007, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
