Dick Kite - 11/04/2002 Dick Kite - 11/04/2002 DICK KITE IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Richard Clair “Dick” Kite, 76, of Idaho Falls, passed away November 3, 2002, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center following a lingering illness. He was born October 31, 1926, at Idaho Falls, to Edward James Kite and Clara Montague Kite. He grew up in Idaho Falls and attended Riverside and Emerson Elementary Schools and O. E. Bell Jr. High, before graduating from Idaho Falls High School. He joined the U.S. Navy in his senior year of high school. He trained at San Diego and was stationed at Fort Emery on the Coronado. He was later sent to the fleet Post Office in San Francisco and then transferred to F. P. O. Okinawa. When World War II ended he returned to Idaho Falls and attended Ricks College for two years in business and political science. He applied to the University of Montana Law School, but was recalled to the Navy for the Korean War and was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Hamel, a destroyer based in Japan. He married Glenda Reva Clark Cook March 2, 1970, at Idaho Falls. In his early years he worked in the family business, Kite Rambler, then worked for Sears. He has managed gas stations for Forde Johnson Motors for 29 years. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed bowling, dancing,and playing the trombone. Surviving are:Wife: Glenda Kite, Idaho Falls, IDDaughter: Karen Elizabeth [Mike] Brooks, Baton Rouge, LADaughter: LaNae [Bob] Hansen, Idaho Falls, ID 3 Grandchildren and 4 Great GrandchildrenHe was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Kevin Richard Kite, and two brothers. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 7, 2002, at the Wood Chapel of the Pines, 273 North Ridge, with Bishop Charles Homer of the Idaho Falls LDS 15th Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. and for one hour prior to the services on Thursday at the chapel. Burial will be in the Annis-Little Butte Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team.
