Diane Robbins Sanchez, 75, of Idaho Falls, died June 23, 2010, at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, California.
Diane was born December 16, 1934, in Hailey, Idaho, to Ray and Eva Robbins. She grew up in Carey, Idaho, and graduated from Carey High School. She attended Idaho State University, worked for the FBI in Washington, D.C., then moved to Sacramento, California, where she worked for Aerojet General. While working there she met her future husband, Frank G. Sanchez. They married September 3, 1957. On September 15, 1962, they were sealed in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. Together they raised five children. They made their home in Sacramento, California, until 1974, when they moved to Los Angeles. In 1977, Frank took employment with EG&G Idaho and moved the family to Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Diane was a receptionist for the Idaho Falls Dental Group and was always known for her pleasant demeanor and friendly smile to all she greeted. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous callings throughout her life. Diane loved working with young people and influenced the lives of many and has kept in contact with many of them. Diane enjoyed working within her community as an election board volunteer. She loved little children, loved holding them and making them smile. Diane was a homemaker, devoted mother, wife and friend. Diane had a wonderful and witty sense of humor and loved to make others laugh. As a young girl she enjoyed horseback riding in the mountains near Carey. Diane had many talents, loved to travel and later in life took up beading and created a number of beautiful keepsake items for her daughters, granddaughters, and others whom she loved. Diane was a mother figure to many young people in need and in times of loss. She created a home that was a haven for all those who visited.
In her later years, Diane loved to travel to California to stay with her daughter, CarolAnn. There she developed many new friends that loved her as a surrogate grandmother to the neighborhood children. All that knew her loved her bright beautiful smile and twinkling eyes.
She is survived by her children, Linda Sanchez of Salmon, Idaho, Mary (Kelly) Lemons, and Laura (Paul) Mason, both of Idaho Falls, CarolAnn (Jim) Recabaren of Sierra Madre, California, and Joseph (Jill) Sanchez of Denver, Colorado, 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Elva Robbins and Dick and Eva Adamson, and her loving husband, Frank.
A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 2010, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge, Idaho Falls and Friday for one hour prior to services, which will begin at 11 a.m. at the Idaho Falls LDS Home Ranch Ward, 2051 South Emerson, Idaho Falls. Interment will be in the Carey Cemetery.

I always recall Diane as a real firecracker with a great sense of humor! She was a sensitive, kind and compassionate soul who always taught me MUCH more than I had to offer her during our Visiting Teaching sessions while we were neighbors. I deeply grieve my loss of such a true and dear friend. May she find antiques to her heart's content and meet those with the stories behind them in her Heavenly Father's house.
