Diane Reimers, 79, passed away Friday, October 17, 2014, at Good Samaritan Society Idaho Falls Village.
Diane was born April 21, 1935, in Jackson Hole, Wyoming (Jenny Lake), to Lt. Colonel Kenneth D. Reimers and Helen Alkire Reimers. Her roots were on Jenny Lake, now a national monument dedicated to her father and family who began the boating and recreation area still remaining today. Growing up Diane was an "Army brat" as she like to call it. Diane attended many schools throughout the United States, graduating high school in the state of California. Diane furthered her education attending various technical training courses, then at age 56 she enrolled in college, graduating at the top of her class with a degree as a Legal Assistant / Paralegal.
Diane loved to travel, moving frequently, then making her home in Las Vegas for 20 years, where she worked as a medical records clerk. Later in her life she returned to her home town in Jackson Hole. Passionate about the environment, communicating her plight to many political agency's throughout the state, reaching out to representatives within our nations Capitol, her persistence made a difference preserving the landscape, wildlife and integrity of the Tetons and Snake River from destruction.
Her passion for the environment also involved recycling, collecting newspapers and other materials from libraries and area offices throughout Jackson Hole, asking for nothing in return. She also was involved in volunteering, donating her time and energy wherever it was needed. Diane had many talents, including yoga, cooking, professional seamstress, she loved to read – and always a book in her hand, hiking, cross country skiing, yoga, and walking in nature.
Diane also spent many years as a nanny in Jackson Hole. Her love for the families and children she cared for was something she truly cherished. One family in particular "The Fernleys," Micky and Bob and their children, remained very close to Diane, making a loving difference in her life.
Diane is survived by her daughter, Monique Mancini, and her son, Nick Mancini, also daughter, Rose Smith, and her son, Steven Smith, and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A special thank from Diane's daughter, Monique, to the Senior Center of Jackson, Wyoming, for all the care and concern given to my mother, I don't know what would’ve happened without all of you.
