Dexter Dwaine Klingler, 64, of Idaho Falls, died at his home on April 8, 2016. Dexter was born on March 30, 1952, in Ashton, Idaho, the son of Karl F. and Wilma Dexter Klingler. He attended school in Rigby and Idaho Falls, graduating with the Class of ‘70 in Rigby, Idaho. He also attended Ricks College where he had a scholarship for baseball. During the Summer of 1964, he went with his family to Battle Mountain, Nevada, while his dad worked road construction, and was able to play little league baseball, and was later nominated to the little league baseball hall of fame. He played basketball during his eighth grade at Clair E. Gale, during his ninth grade year at Rigby Jr. High, and sunk the winning basket that year at the ninth grade tournament in Roberts. He also played his sophomore and junior year at Rigby High School. Sports were his life, but basketball and baseball were his favorites. Dexter married Nancy Peterson in May of 1973 and they later divorced. He married Charlotte Anderson in 1977 and they later divorced. Dexter then married Charlene Toone McNamara in 1988 and their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August 24, 1989. Together, they loved to travel and enjoyed the outdoors. Dexter drove truck with his father for a few years and drove bus for the INL for 23 years. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was very active in his wards in both the Elders and High Priest Quorums. Dexter is survived by his wife, Charlene; children, Paul Dwaine (Melissa), Tracy Marie (Lenny), Deschia (Kyle), Ty, Shanda, and C.J. (Erik). He is also survived by his siblings, Kevin Klingler of Idaho Falls, Jan (David) Grover of Rigby, Billy (Carolyn) Klingler of Idaho Falls; and his 15 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, both sets of grandparents, a niece and a nephew, and his in-laws. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at the Ammon LDS 21st Ward, 4030 John Adams Parkway, with Bishop Jared Kunz officiating. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and Wednesday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
