Devonne Lloyd

DeVonne Elizabeth Lloyd, 79, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on March 26, 2013, after a long courageous battle with COPD. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. DeVonne was born June 19, 1933, in Bismarck, North Dakota, to Gilbert Neideffer and Mabel (Gates) Neideffer. She grew up on the family farm in Wing, North Dakota, and then graduated from Bismarck High School in 1951. After high school she lived in San Francisco, and then again in Bismarck, during which time she worked at several banks. She married the love of her life and lifelong companion Lyness "Skip" Lloyd in June 1955 and they were married for 49 years until the time of Skip's death in 2004. In 1962, DeVonne and Skip moved to Miles City, Montana. In 1965, DeVonne and Skip purchased ownership in a pharmacy and gift store, Farnum & Gabert Drug in Glendive, Montana, where she worked part time and managed the gift store. They had several business ventures while in Glendive, including the pharmacy/gift store, commercial and residential real estate, a college dormitory and the local green house where DeVonne thoroughly enjoyed working with the flowers. DeVonne and Skip moved to Bremerton, Washington, in 1988, where they enjoyed living in the Pacific Northwest on Oyster Bay with the fishing and boating. After Skip retired in 1996, they enjoyed traveling to see family and friends and took several cruises. In 1998, they moved to Sun Lakes, Arizona, where they enjoyed the many activities of a retirement community, swimming, fishing with the grand kids, riding in the golf cart and attending church at St. Stephen's. After Skip passed away, DeVonne moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho, in 2006, where she could be closer to family members. Her son, David, did a wonderful job of taking care of DeVonne and the family will be forever grateful. DeVonne's biggest joy was her family and she was a loving mother to five sons and much of her life was devoted to raising and caring for them. She was a devout Catholic and attended church regularly until she became ill. She liked to cook and entertain family and friends. She used her collection of cookbooks to aid her in crafting memorable dishes. DeVonne's hobbies included cooking, shopping, collecting Christmas ornaments, collecting crystal, playing the organ and piano, hosting family gatherings, watching the news, weather and the stock market and collecting cook books. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Bud and Dennis, sister Doreen Hellerud (with whom she spoke on the phone daily until her death), and youngest son, Michael Lloyd. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Son, Lynn (Linda) Lloyd of Butte, MT; Son, Tom (Yolanda) Lloyd of Ahwatukee, AZ; Son, Tim (Carrie) Lloyd of Jefferson City, MT; Son, David (Jennifer) Lloyd of Idaho Falls, ID; Brother, Bill and Kathy Neideffer of Bismarck, ND; 10 grandchildren, Kristen Lloyd (Jason) Dawes, Jon Quinn, Danielle Lloyd, Christofer (Cruz) Gibbs, Kendra Lloyd, Trevor Lloyd, Taylor Lloyd, Dianne Henze, Debra Henze, David Henze, a great grandchild Easton Dawes and numerous nieces and nephews.
