Derrick Johnson

Dr. Derrick Layne Johnson, 36, of Butte, Montana, passed away on May 7, 2012, at his home. He was born November 13, 1975, in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Charles V. Johnson and Linda Lee Jensen Johnson. He attended elementary school in Roberts, Idaho; junior high in Conroe, Texas; and graduated from Rigby High School. He continued his education by attending Idaho State University. Following graduation he attended Thomas Jefferson Medical School, where he received his Doctoral Degree. He completed his residency in Wichita, Kansas. On June 27, 1995, he married Joy Marie Cummings in Mesa, Arizona. They were later divorced. He was a Medical Doctor specializing in Sports Medicine. Derrick was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed hiking, snowboarding, and especially loved his family and spending time with his children. Survivors are: Son: Tristan Johnson, Idaho Falls, ID Son: Braxton Johnson, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Kalinda Johnson, Idaho Falls, ID Son: Colten Johnson, Idaho Falls, ID Parents: Charles and Linda Johnson, Idaho Falls, ID Brother: Vince (Gracie) Johnson, Rigby, ID Brother: Monte (Julie) Johnson, Idaho Falls, ID Sister: Audra Johnson (Del) Webb, Mesa, AZ Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2012, at the Idaho Falls LDS North Stake Center (955 Memorial Drive) with Bishop Joshua Hawks, of the Idaho Falls LDS 7th Ward, officiating. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) and on Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church.
