Deon Kay Johnson

Deon Kay Johnson, 66, of Idaho Falls, passed away May 3, 2023, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He was under the care of Aspen Hospice.

Deon was born March 4, 1957, in Lewiston, Utah, to Robert Jay Johnson and Lois Crossley Johnson. He graduated from Skyline High School.

On February 20, 1982, he married Rose Ann Staggie in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Included in their union were four children; Kim, Rhett, Michael and Andy. Just a few short years later Deon adopted Andy. They truly had a father-son unbreakable bond. In December of 1982, Rose and Deon were blessed with their baby girl, Brandy. Deon loved being a father. He did everything he could for his family. Throughout his life, Deon was a truck driver. He worked at Earth Movers and even owned his own Big Rig in his early years.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Deon loved hunting. It was always a big family affair. Hunting, camping, snowmobiling, family events, and loading the dishwasher (LOL). Deon was the best camp jack ever. He worked harder setting up and tearing down camp than he did at his regular job. Every winter Deon lived for snow machining. He would either be riding, fixing, or buying snow machines. He knew everything a person could about a snow machine. He loved the family ride thru Bone to Alpine. Spending time with his grandchildren and great grandkids was a daily act for Deon. Whatever they needed he was there to provide it, complaining about it the whole time, but loving it at the same time.

Deon is survived by his wife, Rose Ann Johnson of Idaho Falls; daughter, Kim L. Staggie of Idaho Falls; son, Rhett Henricksen of Idaho Falls; son, Mike (Angela) Henricksen of Idaho Falls; daughter, Brandy K Johnson of Idaho Falls; brother, Don (Vicky) Johnson of Centerville,UT; sister, Peggy (Gary) Cobb of Idaho Falls; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lois Johnson; and son, Andrew C Johnson.

Services will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at the Arbor Event Center, 665 John Adams in Idaho Falls, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
