Deon Cook Heath, 86, of Idaho Falls, passed away May 2, 2011 at her home. She was under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice. Deon was born March 29, 1925, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to David Earl Cook and Delretta Alice Hodson Cook. She was the youngest of three children. She graduated from Ammon High School and obtained an Associates Degree from Ricks College. She married John Emery Heath on August 28, 1945 in Idaho Falls, Idaho at her parent’s home. Their marriage was solemnized on January 23, 1947 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Deon enjoyed being a farmer's wife as well as a mother of 5 children. She sold beauty supplies to supplement their income. Deon was active in doing genealogy and even took a trip to England to do research on her family. She taught others about genealogy and worked at the genealogy library. In her 50's John retired from farming and they became apartment owners. Later, they retired and spent many wonderful winters in Yuma, AZ having fun. Deon was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions over the years. Her hobbies included doing genealogy, graph analysis, crocheting, sewing, camping and french beading. Deon is survived by: her loving spouse of 65 years, John Emery Heath of Idaho Falls; three daughters, Linda (Bob) Cleveland, Susan (Clark) Jones, Cinda (Tom) Hammond, all of Idaho Falls; two sons, David Heath (Bernie Craig), and Mark Heath, both of Idaho Falls, ID. 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Don J. Heath; and two brothers, George H. Cook and Eldon H. Cook. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services, with both visitations at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
