Dennis L Whitten, 70, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 14, 2023, at his home.
Dennis was born November 24, 1952, in Blackfoot, Idaho, to Albert William Whitten and Glenna Wright Whitten. He grew up and attended schools in Blackfoot and graduated from Blackfoot High School. After high school, Dennis joined the US Army.
He married Loretta Pierce on December 10, 1971, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Together they were blessed with four children, Richard, Kristel, Scott and Kevin. Loretta and Dennis were later divorced. On July 6, 1995, he married Rhea Jean Radford in Ashton, Idaho, and it was then that he gained a stepson, Kenneth Ragan, whom he loved as his own. Dennis and Jean made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Dennis worked as a Rigger at NRF on the INL.
Dennis loved spending time with friends and family in the outdoors enjoying motorcycles, ATVs, camping, horses and golfing.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Jean Whitten of Idaho Falls, ID; five children, Richard (Hollee) Whitten of Farmington, UT, Kristel Whitten of Tomball, TX, Kenneth (Julie) Ragan of Idaho Falls, ID, Scott (Korrie) Whitten of Parker, CO, and Kevin Whitten of Centerville, UT; his mother, Glenna Whitten of Blackfoot, ID; his sister, Sharlyn (Brett) Moedl of Boulder, WY; 10 grandchildren and one great grandson.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albert William Whitten.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 18, 2023, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends and family Thursday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. and Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior, both visitations will be held at Wood East Side. Burial will be in the Ucon Cemetery. Military Honors will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
