Dennis Clyde Kunerth, 63, of Ammon, passed away February 16, 2016, at his home. He was under the care of One Source Hospice. Dennis was born February 8, 1953, in Long Prairie, Minnesota, to Walter and Dorathy Kunerth. He grew up in Long Prairie and graduated from Long Prairie High School. Dennis received his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from Moorehead State University and his Master’s Degree and Doctorate in Metallurgy Materials Science from the University of Minnesota. On February 15, 1975, he married Nancy Kay Brown in Battle Lake, Minnesota. Prior to living in Idaho Falls, he resided in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Virginia. After working 31 years at the Idaho National Lab, he retired. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and target shooting with his son. He was a member of the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT). Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Nancy Kunerth of Ammon; son, Benjamin W. Kunerth of Ammon; sister, Linda (Bob) Schmidt of Ruidoso, NM; and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Dorathy Kunerth, and his brother, Wallace Kunerth. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 27, 2016, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 455 West Sunnyside Road, Idaho Falls, with Pastor Larry Cudmore officiating. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. prior to services at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Reel Recovery, 160 Brookside Road, Needham, MA, 02492.
