Dennis Dale Keiser, Jr.

Dr. Dennis Keiser, Jr., 58, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, died on December 9, 2023.

Dennis was born in Downey, California, in 1965 to Dennis, Sr. and Linda Keiser, who moved the family from California to Idaho in 1967. He graduated from Skyline High School as Valedictorian of his class in 1983 before earning Bachelor's and Master's Degrees with Honors from the University of Idaho in Metallurgical Engineering in 1989 and a PhD from Purdue University in Material Science and Engineering in 1992.

Dennis worked at Argonne National Laboratory East for two years in Hinsdale, Illinois, before moving back home to Idaho Falls to work at Argonne West, which later became a part of the Idaho National Laboratory, as a Nuclear Materials Researcher. He was recently promoted to Division Fellow due to his hard work and dedication. He loved his job and made a lot of great friends around the world. His job offered him the opportunity to travel to every continent, except for Antarctica. It was on his bucket list to visit there one day.

Dennis met Becky Zinkel on September 10, 1992, in Lisle, Illinois, after she called him as a telemarketer before there was Caller ID, so he answered. They married on April 23, 1994, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lisle. They settled in Idaho Falls in their present home.

Dennis loved playing and watching sports (especially teams from Los Angeles), spending time at his cabin, hunting elk, biking, golfing, skiing, camping, hiking, music, concerts, and enjoying time with friends and family. Another bucket list item was to summit Mount Borah at 12,662 feet, which he achieved this past summer.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Becky; parents, Dennis and Linda; sister, Lisa Maze (Michael); mother and father-in-law, Sue and Dick Zinkel; sister-in-law, Jenny Fulton (Lon); nieces, Aerah and Zoe; and nephew, Finn.

Dennis will always be remembered for his love of life and adventure. He always said he was "living the dream." We would love to hear him say it one more time. He really did live his dream life. We'll always remember his motto, "you snooze, you lose." We couldn't have asked for a better husband, son, brother, and friend. His memory will live on in our hearts forever.

A memorial service will be held at Hope Lutheran Church in Idaho Falls on Saturday, December 16, 2023. Visitation starts at 4:00 p.m., with a service starting at 5:30 p.m., and a dinner to follow for everyone.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations dedicated to Dennis Keiser sent to the Idaho Falls Family YMCA . For assistance, call 208-523-0600.
