Dennis Brown

Dennis Alton Anton Brown, 54, husband, father, son, brother, and friend, left this earth suddenly on February 13, 2024, to be reunited with his dad and grandparents. He passed away at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center tragically from complications of diabetes.

Dennis was born February 2, 1970, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Ralph A. Brown and Dorothy Ball Brown. Dennis grew up in Shelley and Idaho Falls. As a child, he enjoyed spending time with his mom and dad while they worked, causing mischief with his brother, Danny, and doing normal kid things back in the day. He attended Idaho Falls High School and wrestled until the 9th grade.

He married Ylda Gonzalez in July of 1993 and they were later divorced. Dennis was blessed with two beautiful children from the marriage, Houston and Marina.

In June of 2009, he met his soul mate and the love of his life, Shanon Roker. On October 8, 2010, they married. He gained two more children, Jourdan and Garrett Jensen from their union. They made their home in Idaho Falls where Dennis worked hard his whole life, working two, sometimes three jobs at a time. He worked at the Idaho Falls Stockyard until they closed in 2021. He was a night watchman and cleaned the offices since he was 15 years old. Dennis worked at BMC West for 13 years, the last three of them managing the dispatching department. He worked as a truck driver after that. His last job being with AAA paving. He was an excellent truck driver and loved his job.

Dennis loved his family and loved to take them on spur of the moment trips, going on long drives, often ending up far away from home. He enjoyed working in his yard, fishing, hunting, and camping with his parents, siblings, Shanon, and their children.

He was an amazing husband, a constant support to Shanon, and he will truly be missed, not only by her, but by his entire family. Dennis was a “social butterfly” as Shanon called him. She was amazed by how many people he knew and called friends. She often spoke about how they had gone to Butte, Montana, and Salt Lake City, Utah, always bumping into someone Dennis knew. He loved to talk, especially telling stories. He made sure to include every detail of a story and sometimes got sidetracked doing so. His stories, often exaggerated, will be missed along with his smile, his sense of humor, and uncanny ability to be at the right place at the right time.

Dennis enjoyed watching football, his favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys. After marrying Shanon, he switched to loving a better team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. He said he had to jump on the bandwagon because Shanon’s family were all Steelers fans.

He saved people’s lives and was the first to come upon the scene of an accident, calling 911, and making sure everyone was okay. His ability to make friends easily was something Dennis was an expert at. Everyone who met Dennis loved him.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Shanon of Idaho Falls, ID; children, Houston Brown, Marina (Ty) McRae, Jourdan Jensen, Garrett Jensen; mother, Dorothy Brown; brother, Danny (Angie) Brown; sisters, Jody Smith and Shantell (Greg) Barnes; grandchildren, Troy, Travis, and Trent Stevens.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph, and his grandparents.
