Denice Ann Lamont

Denice Ann Lamont, 81, of Ammon, Idaho, passed away in her home on August 20, 2024.

Denice was born on March 20,1943, to Dean Mac Lamont and Marjorie Corley Lamont in Las Vegas, Nevada. At a very young age, Denice's parents moved the family back to Idaho Falls to live and run the Lamont family farm. Denice attended school in Idaho Falls and graduated from Bonneville High School in 1961. Denice married Dan Klink and had one son, Skip. They were later divorced, and Denice moved home to Idaho Falls. Denice married Larry Steele in August of 1973, and a son, Matthew was born in 1977.

For several years, Denice worked in local banks in the Idaho Falls area before she began her career with WinCo for nearly 30 years. She truly loved working at WinCo where she had friends a plenty and was elected to be her store's Union Representative. She would have loyal customers whom she knew by first name, specifically seeking her out to spend just 10 minutes of their day with her.

In 2008, Denice retired and filled her days with her favorite activities. Denice enjoyed camping annually with friends and family and was always ready to hitch up her 5th wheel when the next invite came her way. Denice loved getting on her 4-wheeler and riding trails with a local ATV club, a favorite past time with her son, Matthew. It was one of these great adventures that unfortunately took Matthew's life in 2018, and left Denice's heart forever a little bit broken. Denice had a talent for making beautiful things and spent many hours making her own jewelry, dream catchers, and anything she could create with precious stones or beautiful gems. Denice was a proud member and active participant with the Idaho Falls Gem and Mineral Club, hosting classes for beginners and volunteering to clean and preserve items brought in from estates. Denice had a natural trait of being a caretaker, of anyone and everyone around her, and there was no better way to do this in her mind then to bake or cook for people.

Denice was preceded in death by her parents, Dean and Marjorie; her son, Matthew; and nephews, Brett Lamont and Shane Lamont.

She is survived by her son, Skip (Lori); grandchildren, Brandon Steele, Tonie Miller, Mckayla Smith, and their families; as well as her siblings, Jim (Irene), Christy, Sandy (Pat) and David (Lisa); as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Enhabit Home Health & Hospice, Senior Helpers, and heartfelt appreciation for Christy, David, and Lisa Lamont, as well as Travis Lyman and Shawn Aiken who saw Denice through her final months.

No services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome donations be made to: Shriners Children's c/o Donor Relations, 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
