Melvin Deloy Ure, 72, of Iona, Idaho, passed away October 6, 2015, at his home. He was under the care of Encompass Home Health and Hospice.
Deloy was born May 12, 1943, in Driggs, Idaho, to Ralph W. Ure and Goldie Louise Fullmer Ure. He grew up and attended schools in Driggs and graduated from Driggs High School. He also attended Ricks College.
Deloy served with the Idaho National Guard during the Vietnam War with the rank of SP-4. He ran the MARS (Military Affiliate Radio Station) in Phan-thiet, Vietnam, for the 101st Airborne.
On December 27, 1975, he married Jeanie Hemming in Rexburg, Idaho. To this union were born four sons, Kerin, Destry, Devin, and Christopher. Deloy and Jeanie made their home in Iona, Idaho, where Deloy worked as a UPRR Dispatcher and Pipeline Trainer for NW Pipeline.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a High Priest Group Leader, Scout Master, taught 16 year olds, and was a Home Teacher. He enjoyed flying, snow skiing, and shooting.
Deloy is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Jeanie Ure of Iona, ID;
son, Kerin Del Ure of Sammamish, WA;
son, Destry Mel Ure of Irving, TX;
son, Devin Lee Ure of Montgomery Village;
son, Christopher Lane Ure of Midvale, UT;
brother, Dennis Ure;
brother, Shane Ure;
sister, Suzanne Wyatt;
sister, Gwendlyn Winter,
16 grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 12, 2015, at the Iona LDS Stake Center, 7555 North 55th East, with Bishop Lynn Rockwood of the Iona 5th Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Monday at the church. A luncheon will follow. Burial will be in the Rexburg Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Military Rites will be performed by the Madison County Veterans Memorial Team.
