Delmer G. Reeder

Delmer (Moose) Reeder, aged 72, departed this world on July 30, 2023, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Delmer was born on March 24, 1951, to Donna Ruth (Orchard) and the late Delmer C. Reeder.

He shared a special bond with his twin brother, Delbert, and was blessed with the addition of a sister, Donna Burke, and a brother, Dennis Phillips, after his mother's marriage to LaVoy Phillips, who was a wonderful father.

One of Delmer's cherished traditions was the annual summer trip to the Oregon Coast with his family. During high school, he worked on farms in Shelley, and in 1970, he graduated from Shelley High School. Answering the call to serve his country, Delmer enlisted in the US Navy and served until his honorable discharge in 1971.

Though life's journey led them to part ways later, Delmer married Maureen, and together they had two beautiful children, Brandy and Brian.

Following the Navy, Delmer was a truck driver at Friedman Bag in Idaho Falls until an injury led him to retire. Throughout his life, Delmer was drawn to the company of others, brightening their days with laughter and warmth. His sense of humor was infectious, and he had a knack for making everyone around him feel good.

Delmer had a passion for sports, and he rooted for teams like the Denver Broncos and the Utah Jazz. In his younger years, he played basketball with the local church group where he won a district championship. He loved to drive big luxury vehicles and drove either a Cadillac or a Lincoln. In his leisure time, he enjoyed watching classic television shows like "Gunsmoke" and "Mayberry." Coffee outings to O'Bradys and McDonalds were among his favorite social activities.

A lover of country music, Delmer enjoyed singing with the band "Half Moon," and was known for his resonant bass voice. Upon occasion, he was the perfect sub for Santa, complete with a full beard, jolly "Ho Ho Ho," and his contagious laugh.

Delmer leaves behind his brother, Delbert, residing in Pocatello; and his children, Brian Crofts (Elyse) of South Carolina and Brandy Guzman (Daniel) of Alaska: five grandchildren, Westyn Crofts, Kylar Crofts, Danny Guzman, Joshua Guzman, and Alyssa Guzman.

In his final year, Delmer resided at Life Care where he received care and compassion from dedicated caregivers. To all those who looked after him during this time, the family extends their heartfelt gratitude.

As we bid farewell to Delmer (Moose) Reeder, we celebrate the life of a man who brightened our lives with his laughter and love. His infectious spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Rest in peace, Delmer. You impacted many lives for the better.
