D. IONE BROWN IDAHO FALLS, ID - Della Ione Bates Brown, 90, of Idaho Falls, died March 21, 2004, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. She was born June 17, 1913 on a farm near Milo to Richard Russell Bates and Della Ann Garn Bates. She was the fourth of four children. Her sister, Eva, was the oldest, followed by her brother, Russell. Her sister Lizzy died at birth. Her father was killed in an accident when she was two years old. Three years later the family moved to Idaho Falls, where her mother ran a boarding house for many years. She spent the rest of her life living in Idaho Falls. On July 2, 1932, she married Horace E. Brown in Thornton, Idaho at a dance hall called the Jungles. She was a mother and homemaker. She also worked at White Star Laundry, Lee's Jewelry and Bon Marche and was a member of the Elks Lodge Does. Later in life, she and her husband had a trailer at Island Park and spent many years going up there on the weekends and fishing. In 1964, they were sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They both became active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in numerous activities. After Horace retired, they sold the trailer and spent winters in Arizona. Horace died in 1988. She enjoyed fishing, camping, dancing, golf and bowling. Ione was full of fun, life, and love and will be missed by all. Surviving are: Daughter: Carol A. (Fred) Olsen, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Judy L. (Pete) DePue, Yuma, AZ Daughter: Janet R. (Tom) Rahl, Idaho Falls, ID 14 Grandchildren, 25 Great Grandchildren, and 6 Great Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, two sisters, and a grandson, Lorin Sauer. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge), with Bishop Nathan Smith of the Idaho Falls 3rd Ward officiating. The family will meet with friends Tuesday from 7 to 8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) and for one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Milo Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
