Dell Bert Miller, 70, of Idaho Falls, passed away July 23, 2023, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He was under the care of his loving family and Aspen Home Health & Hospice.
Dell was born March 1, 1953, in Grand Island, Nebraska, to William Arthur Miller and Loretta Mae Andrews Miller. He was one of nine children and grew up and attended schools in Los Angeles, Idaho Falls, and Osgood.
Dell made his home in Idaho Falls where he raised his children, Ricky, KorDell, and Shalisa, and step-children, Mark and Stacey. He worked as a foreman for Walker Produce before retiring. He enjoyed reading, hunting, fishing, shooting guns, music, and movies. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
Dell was a devoted father and raised two of his children primarily on his own. He brought them up with love, kindness, and such care. The love he had for his family was beyond measure and he would do anything for them.
For Dell, family didn’t just include the people he was related to. To him, family was anyone that he cared for and felt a connection with. He had a way of “collecting” people in his heart and adopting them into his life. He had such a big heart and truly cared for people on a deep level. He rarely crossed paths with anyone he wouldn’t be willing to help. It made no matter if you were family, a friend, or someone he just met, if could help anyone, he would. He never kept score of who he helped, when or why, he just did it because he never wanted to see anyone go without. He was the kind of person that showed up for those that needed him. Over the years, several people found shelter under his roof and experienced his kindness. His generosity is something that was felt by many through his lifetime and will serve as a true testimony to the person he was.
Dell loved to tell stories about the people in his life and the experiences that he had. He could reel you in with his fine attention to detail as if you were taking a walk through the memories in his mind. All the stories he told over the years will be treasured by those he shared them with.
Dell was the kind of person that shared his light with others and that’s how he showed his love.
Dell is survived by his daughter, Ricky V. (Brock) Mitchell of Iona, ID; son, KorDell Miller of Idaho Falls; daughter, Shalisa Miller of Idaho Falls; step-son, Mark Lyons of Idaho Falls; step-daughter, Stacey Morgan of Idaho Falls; sister, Edna Briniger of Idaho Falls; 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Loretta Miller; brother, Wilbur “Red” Miller; sister, Alice Anne Miller-Porter; sister, Jacqueline Joanne Miller-Denning; brother, Lester Otis Miller; sister, Vivian C. Miller-Priest; brother, David Letcher Miller; and sister, Marion Jensen.
