Delbert Earl Murray, known to his family and friends as Buzz, passed away May 23, 2012, in Pocatello, Idaho, at the age of 76, after a lingering illness.
Buzz was born April 26, 1936, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Frank Lebius Murray and Alta Madge Peterson Murray. Buzz spent most of his years in West Yellowstone, Montana. Buzz went to high school first in Rexburg then in Bozeman, as there was no high school in West Yellowstone.
He joined the US Navy in 1955 and did tours of duty in 1957 and 1958 as a member of the E Division on the aircraft carrier USS Hancock. He then returned to West Yellowstone, where he became a fixture as the produce manager at the ‘Food Roundup.’ He also worked at the 3 Bears Motel, the Texaco Service Station, Yellowstone National Park and for several years with Buttrey Food Services. Buzz is survived by a half-brother, Donny Schiller.
Graveside Services with Military Rites will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012, in the West Yellowstone Fir Cemetery, under the direction of Wood Funeral Home in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
