Delbert McFadden, 75, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 16, 2011, at his home. He was born December 23, 1935, in Flagstaff, Arizona, to Parley King and Josephine Elizabeth Blamires King. He was later sealed to Grayson Mitchell McFadden and Josephine Elizabeth Blamires McFadden. His family moved a lot as a child. While living in Castroville, Texas, he graduated from high school. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years during the Korean War. He continued his education by attending Brigham Young University, Cal State in Los Angeles and University of Idaho, where he received his Doctorate Degree in Education. On May 6, 1961, he married Janet Gay Randall in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. They lived in Los Angeles; Provo, UT; Lancaster, CA; Tonga; Weippe, ID; Ashton, ID; Shelley, ID; and Rockford, ID; before moving to Idaho Falls 24 years ago. He worked as a teacher, a high school principal, an assistant superintendent and superintendent. He was also a member of the Rotary Club. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Del served a CES Mission with his wife to South Carolina and was a Temple Officiator for nine years. He enjoyed golf, writing, education, family history work, and temple work. Survivors include: Wife: Janet McFadden, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Cherlynn McFadden, Idaho Falls, ID Son: Keary McFadden, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Marcella McFadden, Idaho Falls, ID Sister: Val (Ray) Chatwin, South Jordan, UT Brother: Richard (Pam) McFadden, Conway, AR Brother: John (Irene) McFadden, Conway, AR Brother: Steve (Ann) McFadden, South Jordan, UT Sister: Anna Marie He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2011, at the Idaho Falls LDS Woodruff 2nd Ward, 1660 - 12th Street, with Bishop Michael Phippen officiating. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge, and Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park.
