Delbert Hanson

Delbert Ray Hanson, 72, of Idaho Falls Idaho, passed away Friday, September 2, 2011, at his home. He had been under the care of Hearts for Hospice. He was born January 30, 1939, to Ray F. Hanson and Lena Rammell Hanson in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He attended Ammon grade school and graduated from Bonneville High School in 1957. He attended Rick College from 1957 to 1958. On October 22, 1958, he married his high school sweetheart, DeAnne Olsen, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Getting married meant he needed a serious job. He began working for Lynn Schwendiman at American Oil. He had a multi task job which included office duties and then anything else they needed him to do. In 1960, he applied and was hired at Meadow Gold Dairies as summer help. He worked in the warehouse and on the dock loading trucks. Before long there was a job opening for a route salesman which he got. After a lot of promotions the summer help job turned into a 40 year career. He retired January 1, 2001, as general manager in Billings, Montana. Delbert was always a hard worker. With his demanding work schedule h e would still find time here and there to complete projects like finishing basements, taking care of yard and garden and having a little time for recreation. He especially enjoyed fishing and boating trips with his family and good friends. He went fishing several placers including Alaska, Canada, Texas, Montana, Oregon, Flaming Gorge, Lake Powell, Idaho and a few more. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in various callings. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, DeAnne Hanson of Idaho Falls; four sons, Tony (Bonnie) Hanson of Pocatello, Idaho; Layne (Erin) Hanson of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Bradley Hanson of San Diego, California, and Stanford (Colette) Hanson of Billings, Montana. 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He is also survived by his mother, Lena Rammell Hanson Leinweber of Utah; half brothers and sister, Albert (Karen) Leinweber of Utah, Nancy (Eric) Melander of Utah, and Wendell (Clementina) Leinweber of Colorado.
