Delayne (Ridge) Yasaitis

DeLayne Ridge Yasaitis, 83, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on September 29, 2024, at Idaho Falls Community Hospital.

DeLayne was born May 27, 1941, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Harry Ridge and Fern Bodily Ridge. She grew up and graduated from North Torrence High in Torrence, California.

Her family moved to Rupert, Idaho, in 1964. She met Burley’s most eligible and confirmed bachelor, Jack Yasaitis. She loved to say...He chased her until she caught him. They were married in Reno, Nevada, on May 20, 1966.  Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on April 8, 1977. After several moves from Idaho to California, they settled in Idaho Falls.

DeLayne was an accomplished artist and she taught lessons at Robert’s Arts & Crafts. She also painted for pleasure in her spare time. It was a life-long love. DeLayne also worked as a bookkeeper in Jack’s appliance/furniture stores (Dutch’s Showkase and Blue Lake’s Showkase). She was also a collector working at Tall Brother’s Dentistry and North American Collections.

Although DeLayne loved to paint in her free time, she also loved watching her grandchildren in all forms of sport...basketball, football, ice-skating, hockey, volleyball, anything that involved family.  For the past 10 years she attended the Idaho Falls Temple five days a week doing endowments and baptisms for the dead. She was a real sleuth when it came to genealogy.

DeLayne is survived by her daughter, Shauna (Lynn) Loughmiller of Ogden, UT; daughter, Tauna (Wade) Christensen of Firth, ID; grandchildren, Ashley (Tyler) Woodland; great-grandson Jack; great-granddaughters, Kenzie and Karlie, Canon Carpenter, Hannah Christensen, and Stockton Christensen; son, Jack (Liz) Yasaitis; grandchildren, Olivia and Jackson; sisters, Heather (Dave) Wilson and Alonna (Mark) Randall; and her brother, Kevan Ridge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Yasaitis; her parents, Harry and Fern Ridge; her brothers, Ronald Ridge and Harry David Ridge.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, with Bishop Todd Havens officiating. The family will visit with friends from 11-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Goshen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the brittanyfoundationonline.org. DeLayne was an animal lover. This organization is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, care and placement of homeless dogs.
