DeLaine J. Heyrend, 84, of Idaho Falls, passed away March 23, 2016, at Teton Post Acute Care & Rehabilitation Center after a courageous three-year battle with leukemia. DeLaine was born July 11, 1931, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to George Heyrend and Thelma Jennings Heyrend. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. He entered the U. S. Navy in 1948 and served as a solo pilot. On March 20, 1957, he married the love of his life, Darla Marie Sides, in Elko, Nevada. To this union were born six children, Tamera, Shawna, Lana, Todd, Shane, and Travis. A lifelong resident of Idaho Falls, DeLaine owned and operated Heyrend Produce, Inc. DeLaine and Darla were married 57 years before she passed away May 3, 2015. He was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was an outdoorsman of all sports, and was an artist that enjoyed oil painting. He loved attending his grandchildrens' soccer and basketball sporting events. DeLaine always believed in being honest, true, and fair. He was always giving and never judged anyone. He taught his children to follow that example. DeLaine is survived by daughter, Tamera (Jeff) Waldron of Idaho Falls, ID, daughter, Shawna (Les Talley) Russell of Idaho Falls, ID, daughter, Lana (Terry) Berry of Idaho Falls, ID, son, Todd Heyrend of Idaho Falls, ID, son, Shane (Cecilia) Heyrend of Idaho Falls, ID, son, Travis Heyrend of Idaho Falls, ID, brother, Darwin (Joanne) Heyrend of Blackfoot, ID, sister, Gay Nelson of Idaho Falls, ID, brother, Doyle (Deena) Heyrend of Idaho Falls, ID, sister, Jolene (Jay) Davenport of Albuquerque, NM. 20 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Darla, a brother-in-law, Earl Nelson, and a granddaughter, LeNaya Heyrend. Private Family Gathering will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2016, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
