After her children were older, she worked as an Avon Representative for 10 years and returned to the optical business for five years.

She was an active member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church where she sang for many years in the choir, as well as numerous other positions. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing cards.
