Deb Barnes

Delbert James Barnes, 89, passed away May 26, 2016, at Good Samaritan Society Idaho Falls Village. He was born January 26, 1927 to Wilford Barnes and Pearl Groom Barnes in Lewisville, Idaho. He was raised in Osgood, Idaho where he attended grade school and then high school at Bonneville in Ammon.

During World War II he joined the Army and served his entire tour in Hawaii where he reached the rank of Master Sergeant. After the war he returned to Idaho Falls, and in 1950 he married Sarah Elizabeth Hargrave. They had two sons, John Patrick and James Michael. In 1951, he joined the Idaho Falls Fire Department, and in 1977 he retired with the rank of Captain.

He liked all outdoor sports including hunting, fishing, golf and snowmobiling. He and Beth enjoyed spending many fun hours with family and friends in Island Park and Beaver Dam, Arizona. He was a life member of the Idaho Falls Elks Lodge and was a member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife Beth, his son Patrick and wife Karla, his son Mike and wife Joni, his sister Leah Smith, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Darwin and Clifton, and sisters Donna and Joanne.
