Deauna Bea Kirkham Weber, 77, of Idaho Falls, passed away March 1, 2017, at Life Care Center of Idaho Falls.
Deauna was born February 14, 1940, in Shelley, Idaho, to Edward Douglas Kirkham and Lelah Geneal Jensen Kirkham. She grew up and attended schools in Shelley, graduating from Shelley High School. She also attended Ricks College in Rexburg where she received an Associate Degree in Education and later attended Brigham Young University.
While attending Ricks College, she met John Rice Weber on a blind date and later helped finance his mission to California by teaching school at Lyman Grade School in Madison County. They were married on June 1, 1962 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They lived in Utah and Nevada prior to settling in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where they have lived for 42 years. To this union were born four children, Douglas, David, Cheryl and Stewart. Deauna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and homemaker. She also worked for Idaho Falls School District 91 where she taught English as a second language, summer school and other subjects. She taught at several elementary schools ending at Temple View where she retired after 22 years.
Deauna was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous callings including Relief Society President, Stake Young Women’s Presidency, and Primary Teacher. She loved singing and participated in many choirs. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, painting, and ceramics. She was also a talented cook and made all of her children’s wedding cakes. Deauna especially loved spending time with her family.
Deauna is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, John Weber of Idaho Falls, ID; Son, Douglas (Nancy) Weber of Idaho Falls, ID, son, David (Catherine) Weber of Nampa, ID, daughter, Cheryl (Dennis) Hale of Bluffdale, UT, son, Stewart (Sandy) Weber of Colorado Springs, CO, sister, Krystal (Marvin) Hicks of Shelley, ID, brother, Jan (Lana) Kirkham of Shelley, ID. 16 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2017, at the Idaho Falls LDS Eastview Ward, (2349 Virlow) with Bishop Clinton Hall officiating. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side (963 South Ammon Road) and Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Lincoln Cemetery.
