Our loving mother and grandmother, DeAun Irene Nukaya, 94, of Idaho Falls, passed away September 27, 2023, at Rigby Lake Assisted Living. She was under the care of Solace Hospice.
DeAun was born August 23, 1929, in Sedgwick, Kansas, to Glen and Irene Stewart. She grew up and attended schools in Roberts and Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1947.
On January 13, 1948, she married George Hisao Nukaya in Walla Walla, Washington. DeAun and George made their home in Roberts, Idaho, on the family farm where they raised their five children. After retiring, they moved to Idaho Falls.
She was a member JACL, Roberts Flower and Garden, and the Roberts Ladies Lions Club. She enjoyed cooking and was a great cook! She enjoyed sewing dance costumes for Pam and her own clothing. She loved fishing, gardening, outings, and ski trips with family and friends. She also enjoyed watching Rick with his tractor pulls and Larry with his monster truck.
DeAun is survived by her son, Jay (Afton) Nukaya of Roberts, ID; daughter, Pamela Summers of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Richard Nukaya of Idaho Falls, ID; 7 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Hisao Nukaya; son, DelRay Nukaya; son, Larry Allen Nukaya; granddaughter, Debra Mulberry; and brother, Dick Stewart.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
