DEAN E. GNEITING IDAHO FALLS, ID - Dean Emery Gneiting, 87, of Idaho Falls, died February 28, 2004, at his home. He was born June 10, 1916, in Idaho Falls, at the original family home, to Abraham Gneiting, Sr. and Anna Magdalena Oswald Gneiting. He grew up in the area and attended Midway High School. On November 9, 1935, he married Verla Taylor in Idaho Falls. Their marriage was solemnized on October 3, 1939, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. She preceded him in death. On August 20, 1987, he married Donna Martin. They were later divorced. He farmed and operated a potato warehouse. He was a member of the School Board and was Water Director for 29 years on the Burgess Canal. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in numerous callings including First Counselor in the Bishopric and as Scoutmaster. He earned his Silver Beaver Award in Scouting. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing billiards at the Senior Citizens Center. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving are: Daughter: Doris (Tom) Ritchie, Iona, ID Daughter: Marjorie (Thayne) Lords, serving an LDS Mission in Nauvoo, IL Daughter: Julia (Ray) Iglinski, Coltman, ID Son: Ross (Linda) Gneiting, Coltman, ID Daughter: Nola (Larry) Steinmetz, Ucon, ID Daughter: Elaine (D.) Simmons, Coltman, ID Sister: Erma Schwab, Afton, WY 37 Grandchildren and 68 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 6 sisters and 5 brothers. Funeral Services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2004, at the Coltman LDS 2nd Ward (12448 North 5th East), with Jeff Buhler, a Counselor in the Bishopric, officiating. The family will meet with friends on Friday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) and for one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Grant-Central Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
