DAYLE R. SMITH COLORADO SPRINGS, CO -- Dayle Rigby Smith, 82, formerly of Idaho Falls, died March 14, 2005, at his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born October 14, 1922, in Idaho Falls, to Monty Ray Smith and Leatha Eckersly Rigby Smith. He attended public schools in Idaho and Montana. He served in the U.S. Navy as a First Class Petty Officer during World War II. He later joined the U.S. Marines where he served as a Tech Sergeant during the Korean Conflict. He attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. On May 18, 1946, he married Margaret Claire James in Jackson, Wyoming. He worked as an Electronic Design Engineer for Honeywell & Kaman Sciences. He later founded Smith Research and Technology, Inc. which manufactured electronic sensors. He owned and operated the business for 20 years. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various positions including Home Teacher. Dayle enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, hiking and backpacking. Surviving are: Daughter: Karin (Bill) O'Halloran, Ft. Collins, CO Daughter: Kate Lewis, Billings, MT Daughter: Krisan (Erik) Gullikson, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Karla (Mike) Black, Rigby, ID Daughter: Kimberly (Dan) Schmill, Rock Springs, WY Son: Kelly Richard Smith, Fayetteville, AR Brother: Reid Smith, Salmon, ID Brother: Max Smith, Carmen, ID Brother: Lynn Smith, Inkom, ID Brother: David Smith, Idaho Falls, ID 14 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and a sister. Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2005, at Wood Funeral Home East Side (963 S. Ammon), with Bishop David Smith officiating. The family will visit with friends following the services. Burial will be at the Aspen Cemetery in Jackson, Wyoming, under the direction of Wood Funeral Home, P. O. Box 51434, Idaho Falls, ID. Military Rites will be performed by the Jackson American Legion.
