Dawna Lee Allen, 66, of Ammon, passed away January 19, 2016, at her home after a long struggle with cancer. Dawna was born June 25, 1949, in Rigby, Idaho, to Franklin John Byington and Wanda Loraine Clark Byington. She grew up in Ririe amongst many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She graduated from Ricks College, where she received her Associate’s Degree, and then attended Brigham Young University. On January 29, 1970, she married Scott Myron Allen in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She was the mother of five children, Desirae, Anthony, Michael, Kristopher, and Bradley. Dawna and Scott resided in Provo, Utah, while attending Brigham Young University, and after graduation lived in Salt Lake City for five years. After a couple of years in California, Scott and Dawna returned to Idaho Falls in August of 1979. They found a wonderful home in Ammon, where they have resided since, and have loved their home and community. Dawna worked as a student aide at Rocky Mountain Middle School. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. Dawna had a special love for family and friends. She was loved by everyone and will be missed. Dawna is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Scott Allen of Ammon, ID; daughter, Desirae Huether; son, Anthony Allen; son, Michael Allen; son, Kristopher (Bethany) Allen; sister, Joy (Robert) Hodges; sister, Rita (Stillman) Buzzell; 20 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, Franklin and Wanda Byington; youngest son, Bradley; granddaughter, Hailey and a brother, Daryl Byington. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Saturday, January 23, 2016, at the Ammon LDS 5th Ward, 2055 S. Ammon Road, with Bishop Paul Lords officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and Saturday from 11-11:45 a.m at the church. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
