David Turner

David Owen Turner, 71, of Idaho Falls, passed away on February 21, 2016, at his home. He was born June 15, 1944, in Ontario, Oregon, to Theodore Roswell Turner and Barbara Jeanne Westfall Turner. He grew up and attended schools in the area. In 1961, he joined the U.S. Navy where he earned the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class and was stationed in Puerto Rico. On January 15, 1971, he married Bertha Joy Brower in Idaho Falls, Idaho. The couple made their home in Idaho Falls and raised three children: Jeff, Kerri, and Wendy. He worked as a carpenter before joining the INL where he worked until his retirement. David enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, four wheeling, PBR (Professional Bull Riders), Nascar, little road trips, and dutch oven cooking. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and having sing alongs. He is survived by: the love of his life, Bert Turner of Idaho Falls; son, Jeff (Myra) Weeks of Laramie, Wyoming; daughter, Kerri (Gordon) Miller of Idaho Falls; daughter, Wendy (Mike) Ockerman of Idaho Falls; brother, Richard (Evelyn) Turner of Lynden, Washington; brother, Gary (Carold) Turner of Nampa, ID; brother, Ronald (Dawn) Turner of Bowling Green, Missouri; grandchildren, Isaac (Heather) Miller, Jennifer (Justin) Burgess, Josh (Chyrelle) Miller, and Amber (Justin) Haskell, all of Idaho Falls; and nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2016, at Wood Funeral Home East Side (963 S. Ammon). The family will visit with friends on Friday from 7-8:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 1-1:45 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
