David Tomchak

David Anton Tomchak, 86, of Grant, ID, passed away June 23, 2025, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. David was born September 21, 1938, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Anton David Tomchak and Laverne Irene Schwarzenberger Tomchak Sauers. He grew up and attended Holy Rosary School, OE Bell Jr. High, and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. He attended 1 year of college at Idaho State University. He married Lois J Naef, and they made their home in Idaho Falls, ID and later Leadore, ID. They had 9 children and later divorced. He later married Fidela Yraiz Moran and following her passing, he married Marina Elsa Roberson, and they made their home in Grant, ID.

David has always been a hard worker. He worked in the grocery store business for years starting at Food King, Buttery's and Waremart. Later, he owned and ran the Leadore General Store in Leadore, ID and then the Grant Store in Grant, ID. He was an entrepreneur involved in real estate-  purchasing, renting, and selling many properties. He owned the George and the Black Stone Apartments in Idaho Falls for over 15 years. He was a handyman, mechanic, and jack of all trades. David enjoyed hunting for arrowheads in his younger years and has always enjoyed the outdoors. In his later years, he spent a great deal of time at his computer, following the stock market and making trades. Following retirement, he loved traveling to Mexico. David and Marina traveled to Nicaragua each winter, Marina's birth country. They enjoyed their little piece of Heaven picking fruit and going down the river, Rio Siquia. A hobby he enjoyed all through the years was working on old cars, he especially liked the Studebakers. He loved to see his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren in all of their various activities and was so proud of their many and varied accomplishments.

David is survived by his wife, Marina Elsa Roberson Tomchak; his son, Mike (Amanda) Tomchak of Roberts, ID, daughter, Angela (Larry) Klingler of Idaho Falls, ID, son, Jon (Charlene) Tomchak of Shelley, ID, son, Chris (Karen) Tomchak of Shelley, ID, son, David R. (Laura) Tomchak of Leadore, ID, son, Peter (Tanda) Tomchak of Boise, ID, daughter, Julie (Andrew) Dufresne of Tamworth, New Hampshire, daughter, Janill (Jeremy) Kohler of Shelley, ID; stepdaughter, Teresa (Andrew) Thomas of  Beaverton, OR, stepdaughter, Ruby (Jason)  Hall of Idaho Falls, ID, stepson, Alex Quintana of San Diego, CA; sisters, Margaret Hubert of  Lincoln, Nebraska, and Alice Balkovitz of Albuquarque, NM; brother, Tim (Karrolee) Tomchak of Grants Pass, OR; 42 grandchildren, and over 50 great-grandchildren and counting.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Laverne Tomchak; stepfather, Edward "Ed" Sauers; sister Edna "Eddie" Johnson; son, Ben Tomchak; wives, Lois Janane Naef Tomchak (Divorced), Fidela Yraiz Mo'ran Tomchak; stepson, Tony Roberson; and stepdaughter, Elisa Roberson. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday July 1, 2025, at the Idaho Falls Activity Center, 1575 N Skyline Drive, Idaho Falls, ID 83402. It is close proximity to the Idaho Falls Regional Airport. A luncheon will immediately follow with an opportunity to visit with family and friends. A dedication of the grave will be at 6 p.m. that evening at the Grant Cemetery.
