David J. Southwick

David J. Southwick, 82, of Ammon, passed away peacefully at his home with his family at his side on July 12, 2016.

Dave was born in Ogden, Utah, on October 10, 1933, to Fred J. and Cleora Naoma (Rapp) Southwick. He married Bardee Stuart on October 24, 1953, in Ogden. They were blessed with five children, Vicki Southwick of Idaho Falls, David (Mary) Southwick of Idaho Falls, Peggy (Doug) Weeks of Shelley, Joan (Russell) Johnson of Tyhee, and Holly Ann (deceased). They raised their family in California and Idaho. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Dave was blessed with the ability to repair anything. He was a self-employed, self-taught mechanic and built thriving businesses in California and Idaho. He loved refinishing antiques, and for Christmas one year, refinished a piano built in 1890 for his wife. He was talented in many other ways. His family were the recipients of his handy work in their homes. He loved gardening and sharing his vegetables with family and friends. He had a great sense of humor and always brought a smile to those who were around him. He enjoyed taking his family for rides in the 1930 Ford Model A that he restored. He was soft-hearted and loved to help others. He did many charitable car repairs and loaned his personal car to others when needed.

He was cared for wonderfully by Alliance Hospice. We appreciate the support of their nurses to our family and especially to him (a special thanks to Kim).

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, and his brother. He is survived by his wife, Bardee, four children, 12 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.

Interment will be in Malad, Idaho, where a private family service will be held.

Private Family Services at a later date in Malad, Idaho. He passed away on
