Dear Sharon and the Reed Family,
We can not express our sadness in regards to David’s passing. His statue matched the bigness of his soul and character. He touched our lives for good in numerous ways. His friendliness as a neighbor helped us feel at home in Osgood. His love for children showed when he would give little Jeanelle a ride on his motorcycle. He always had time to talk to the children and the adults that crossed his way. As our bishop, he inspired us with his leadership skills and devotion to the Savior and the Gospel. He was wise and prudent in dealing with others. Goodness just seemed to naturally flow from him and that would draw you into wanting to be better. No man seemed to love life more than David. He was physically active and relished the beautiful world God had created. But perhaps my favorite thing about David is the marriage that Sharon and he shared. The love they had for one another was almost palatable. In an age that so many marriages flounder, it was reassuring and wonderful to see how David and Sharon had built such a strong, enduring bond. That bond was extended to their family and they have four children that we respect and love also. David leaves a legacy that will continue to touch the lives of others here on Earth and he takes a full basket of service and good works to show our Savior and Heavenly Father. I have no doubt, he will prepare a beautiful place to share with Sharon and his family. Love goes on forever.
We thank God for David Reed and his family,
Randy and Malane Anderson

I was surprised and saddened by this news. I remember hearing nothing of David's illness.
My best wishes to all who are parted from this great man for a time.
Because of their goodness, the Charles Reed family was reguarded with near reverence in our home when I was growing up.
Then LeRoy married our "neighborhood sweetheart", LaRene Pancheri. This brought us to a closer personal feeling for the family.
I think David and I first crossed paths at the Mickelson ranch in Island Park. Lynn offered their cabin there as a honeymoon retreat for Donna Hanson and me. One rainy afternoon, came a horn honk and then some objects clunking against the cabin to announce the arrival of visitors. Lynn, Dudley Tucker, and David with their wives had left the rains and farm work in Idaho Falls to enjoy an overnight "fishing trip". Some know better than others the intent of this trip.
Donna and her sisters had "baby set" for David and Sharon in earlier years so there was a tie for us.
As time went on, I often met David at farm related things. Then Brad married our dental hygenist and another tie was formed as we witnessed health problems and on going goodness in the family.
We have been blessed greatly by David and the lives of family members. We now ask that you be blessed with comfort, understanding and love at this parting.
