David William Fisher, 94, of Idaho Falls, passed away October 10, 2015, at his home. He was under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice and his loving family.
David was born November 9, 1920, in Chewelah, Washington, to Rev. Joel Franklin Fisher and Dorcus Olive Ramsey Fisher. His father was a reverend and traveled throughout Washington and Idaho. David graduated from Boise High School. He also attended Seattle Pacific College, MIT and Boise State, when it was a two year school. While David was in college he worked for the Forest Service Blister Rust Campaign.
David joined the U.S. Army Signal Core and served as a Staff Sargent during World War II.
On October 17, 1946, he married Ruby Schofield Fisher in Boise, Idaho. To this union was born a daughter, Carol Ann Fisher.
David and Ruby lived in Boise, California, Pocatello, Idaho, before moving to Idaho Falls, Idaho while he worked in for the U.S. Postal Service. David and Rudy worked at Carey’s Furniture Store in downtown Idaho Falls, were he worked for a year and a half. He then went to work at the INL in the mail room for Phillips Petroleum. He ended his career as a computer analyst for EG&G.
David was a member of the Eagles. He enjoyed golf, bowling, sudoku, crossword puzzles and spending time with his family. He loved his God.
David is survived by his daughter, Carol Ann Fisher of Idaho Falls, ID;
granddaughter, Jill (Pete) Smout of Idaho Falls, ID;
two great grandchildren, Cody (Felisha Cox) Butler and Taya Smout of Idaho Falls, ID;
great-great granddaughter, Shylo Fisher of Idaho Falls, ID;
brother Donald (Nan) Fisher of Morongo Valley, CA;
sister, Lorraine Martinez of Tuscan, AZ;
sister, Marylu (Frank)Vogt of Palos Verdes, CA;
and a sister, June Fisher of Yucaipa, CA.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby, his parents, Rev. J. Franklin and Olive Fisher, sister Lois Ansted and a brother, Joel Fisher.
A Gathering will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 2015, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veteran’s team.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Hands of Hope Hospice for the care and help they provided David and his family.
