David Thomas “Dave” Cornell, 51, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away September 20, 2011, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of natural causes.
Dave was born June 27, 1960, in Kittery, Maine, the son of David Thomas Cornell, Sr. and Sandra Joyce Slack Cornell. He grew up in North Stonington, Connecticut, and graduated from Willard High School, where he played soccer and football. He then attended Johnson & Wells Culinary School and earned an Associate’s Degree.
On June 15, 2002, he married Cheri Dannielle Moneypenny at Newport, Rhode Island. They made their home in Fall River, Massachusetts, for two years, then moved to Idaho Falls nine years ago. Dave worked as a Chef for the Sandpiper and Jaker’s Restaurants.
Dave was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a cub scout leader, home teacher, and was a high priest. Dave earned his Eagle Scout in his youth and served as a volunteer firefighter and policeman. He enjoyed cooking, paintballing, and helping with cub scouts.

Stepson, Dylan Thomas Williams, and
Stepson, Jonathan Paul Williams, all of Tulsa, Oklahoma,
Father: David Thomas Cornell, Sr. of North Stonington, CT;
three brothers, Scott (Norma) Cornell of Mystic, CT,
Kurtis (Reanete) Cornell of Boston, MA, and
Eugene Cornell of North Stonington, CT.
He was preceded in death by his mother and his paternal grandparents, and his maternal grandparents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2011, at the Idaho Falls LDS 7th Ward, 955 Memorial Drive, with Bishop Joshua Hawkes officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
