David Allan Burger, 59, of Idaho Falls, passed away unexpectedly Friday, September 21, 2012, at his home.
He was born May 5, 1953 in Evanston, Wyoming, to John Allan Burger and Sharmene Brough Burger. Dave attended schools at Eastwood Elementary in Salt Lake City, Utah and Robinson Elementary, Strong Elementary, Aldrich Jr. High, and graduated from Beloit Memorial High School in Beloit, Wisconsin. After serving a full time mission in Venezuela for the LDS Church, he continued his education at Brigham Young University, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. Dave then attended the University of Idaho, where he received his Master’s Degree in Music Education.
On December 20, 1976, he married Jilene Goodwin in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Together they raised two daughters, Criscell and Chalise. David worked as a music educator in Milford, Utah and Idaho Falls, Idaho. He was the conductor of the Idaho Falls Youth Symphony, a musician for and board member of the Idaho Falls Symphony Orchestra, a member of the Idaho Brass Quintet, and the Music Coordinator for School District 91 Music Department. He was the conductor of the School District 91 musical, Cinderella, and also conducted the Sounds Choir in The Sound of Music. His marching and jazz bands attended many festivals and competitions locally and as far away as Orlando, Florida and Moscow, Idaho.
Dave was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, including Bishop of the Parkwood Ward for five years. He enjoyed photography, model railroading, canoeing, river running, working on his truck, and spending time with his family. He was a loving husband and father and will be greatly missed.

Sister, Wendy (Herby) Basso of Santa Clara, UT;
Sister, Sheila (Tommy) Nitta of Honolulu, HI;
Sister, Cammy (Mark) Hayward of King George, VA;
Sister, Amy (David) Castillo of Folsom, CA;
Father-In-Law, Jack Bond Goodwin of Salt Lake City, UT;
and 5 Grandchildren, Caysja, Crew, and Capri Roberts, with a baby, Southwick, and a baby, Roberts, on the way.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Allan Burger, and his mother-in-law, Jean Marie McKell Goodwin.
Funeral Services will begin at 12:00 Noon Saturday, September 29, 2012, at the Idaho Falls LDS Stake Center, 1155 First Street, with Bishop Jeremy Westwood of the Parkwood Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. Friday at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, and from 10 to 11:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
