David Browning

David "Gramps" Woodrow Browning, 91, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 12, 2011. He was born June 17, 1919, in Idaho Falls to Stephen A. and Amy Browning. He was the youngest of 13 children. Dave was a hard worker and a devoted family man. During World War II, he proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Force, where he met his French-Canadian bride, Lillian Marie "Lillie" Gougeon at Edmonton Air Base. Lillie worked in the mess hall and she often snuck Dave meat on "no meat" Tuesday. They married October 11, 1946, in Pasco, Washinton. He loved spending time at his cabin in Island Park, Idaho, where he enjoyed telling stories to his family and fiends, always making them laugh. In his last few weeks of life, he talked about being at the cabin, where some of his best memories were created. Dave also enjoyed square dancing, which he and Lillie did for more than 30 years. David W. Browning is survived by his son, Dennis (Kathy) Browning of St. George, Utah; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff of Sterling Court and Red Cliffs Rehabilitation in St. George, Utah for their exceptional care of Gramps.
