Daryl Edwin Nystrom, 85, of Idaho Falls, passed away December 10, 2023, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Daryl was born June 3, 1938, in Swatara, Minnesota, to Paul “Ed” and Kathryn Grace Nystrom.
He lived in Swatara, Minnesota, until he was five years old. Daryl had one sibling, Sharon an older sister. They were close and were great brother and sister.
The family moved to Hopkins, Minnesota, in June of 1943, where Daryl attended Harley Hopkins School through the 9th grade and Hopkins High School through the 12th grade, where he graduated in 1956. Shortly after graduation, he moved with his family to Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Daryl attended Idaho State University. He lived and worked in Idaho Falls until his death on December 10, 2023.
On June 3, 1960, he married Marlene “Faye Perry” from Ashton, Idaho. Daryl and Faye were married for 63 years.
Daryl loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter. He loved hunting with his good friend, Lyle Millard. Some of his favorite spots for hunting moose, deer, and antelope were Medicine Lodge and Island Park. Daryl really enjoyed taking the family camping on weekends and exploring new places, his animals, and feeding wildlife in his backyard.
Daryl worked in payroll and accounting at the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory outside Idaho Falls, until he retired in 1995.
Daryl was preceded in death by is father, Paul “Ed” Nystrom; and his mother, Kathryn Nystrom.
Daryl is survived by his wife, Marlene “Faye” Nystrom; three children, Hank Nystrom of Boise, Idaho, Ethan Nystrom, and Sally Nystrom; two grandchildren, Zachery and Brittany Rigoulot; three great-grandchildren, Mia, Murphy Dailey, and Nellie Rigoulot, and spouse, Dorthy Rigoulot all of Idaho Falls, Idaho.
There will be a small gathering this Summer for family and friends in Idaho Falls.
