DARWIN A. SUCHER IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Darwin Albert Sucher, 87, of Idaho Falls, passed away February 22, 2008, at The Gables Assisted Living Center of natural causes. He was born October 1, 1920, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Albert Myron Sucher and Violet Edith Drake Sucher. He spent his early years in Osgood and attended schools in Roberts. He also lived in Milo and Roberts before coming to Idaho Falls. After high school graduation he took a welding course in San Diego, California, then moved to Seattle, Washington, and worked in the shipyards. He enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1942, serving in World War II for three and a half years. Following the war he returned to Roberts and farmed for two years. He went to work for Union Pacific Railroad in September, 1948. He married Merle Hill October 23, 1948, in Dillon, Montana. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple November 6, 1959. He worked as a yard clerk for Union Pacific Railroad until his retirement in 1980. Merle passed away November 28, 2004. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as Ward Clerk and in various other positions over the years. He and Merle served a full-time mission to Kansas. He enjoyed round dancing, square dancing and traveling. In his early years he also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. Survivors include: Son: Dee Darwin (Kristi) Sucher, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Betty Marie (Don) Marks, Brawley, CA Daughter: Thelma Amplis (Nelson) Perry, Nampa, ID 7 Grandchildren & 14 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Merle, a sister, Inis Ester French, and a brother, Lloyd Sucher. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 26, 2008, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge, with Lance Toone, former Bishop of the Idaho Falls LDS 20th Ward, officiating. The family will visit with friends Tuesday for one hour prior to the services at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Iona Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and the Idaho Honor Guard.
