Darwin "Dj" Olson

Darwin Jolley "DJ" Olson, 91, of Idaho Falls, passed away October 30, 2018, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. DJ was born June 1, 1927, in Hagerman, Idaho, to Frank Milton Olson and Geneva Mary Jolley Olson. He grew up and attended schools in the area and graduated from Bridge Malta High School. He served as a Private First Class in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On April 13, 1953, he married Betty Ann Johnson in Shelley, Idaho. She preceded him in death on April 12, 1995. On June 25, 1999, he married Alice Elizabeth Olson in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She also preceded him in death on May 30, 2009. DJ worked as a Molder and Core Maker for Idaho Falls Foundry. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed fishing, dancing, and especially loved his family and spending time with them. DJ is survived by his son, Denny L (Mindy) Olson of Rigby, ID; son, Tony R. Olson of Idaho Falls, Idaho; son, Mike J. (Dalena) Olson of Boise, ID; daughter, Lisa (Steve) Rankin of Idaho Falls, ID; step-son, Alan L. Kelso of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Glen (Judy) Olson of Bozeman, MT; sister, Florence Barnes of Burley, ID; 14 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Betty; his second wife, Alice; daughter, Carol Ann Olson; and three sisters, Imogene Heitz, Eloise Weir, and Elaine Brackenberry; four brothers, Frank Olson, Dorsel Olson, Ernest Olson and Lawrence Olson. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, November 2, 2018, at Shelley-Hillcrest Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed by the Bingham County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
