RIGBY, IDAHO -- Darrell Mirt Jackson, 91, of Rigby, passed away September 14, 2009, at The Gardens in Rigby.
He was born July 7, 1918, in Alta, Wyoming, to Rhodum Stanley Jackson and Johanna Beard Jackson. He attended schools in Alta; White Hall, Montana; and Driggs, Idaho.
On June 11, 1938, he married Thelma C. Thomas in Driggs. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on April 28, 1949. He worked as a Head Cheese Maker, and later for Teton County Road and Bridge and as a City of Driggs Marshall.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had been ordained to the office of High Priest. He served in numerous positions including Counselor in the Mutual Presidency and Sunday School Presidency, and as an ordinance worker at the temple. He and his wife also served two missions at the Idaho Falls Visitor’s Center. Darrell enjoyed carpentry, fishing, camping, and four-wheeling.
He is survived by:

Daughter: Marjorie Lucille (Terry) Jenson, Rigby, ID
Daughter: Kathy Thelma (Dan) Lerwill, Rigby, ID
15 Grandchildren and 19 Great Grandchildren
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 19, 2009, at the Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, with Bishop Robert Devine of the Rigby LDS 7th Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services, both at Wood East Side. Burial will be in the Cache-Clawson Cemetery in Tetonia.
