Darrell Farnsworth

Edward Darrell Farnsworth, 86, of Idaho Falls, passed away January 20, 2015, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of causes incident to age. Darrell was born October 15, 1928, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Ralph Washington Farnsworth and Hilda Ann Byram Farnsworth. He grew up and attended schools in Ucon, Idaho. He served as a Combat Medic in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor. On August 1, 1952, he married Mary Jane Monson in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. To this union were born seven children, Sue, Peggy, Cindy, Doug, Brian, Janeal, and Craig. Darrell and Mary Jane made their home in Ucon, Idaho, where Darrell worked as a mail carrier and church custodian. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings including the Bishopric, High Councilor, Scout Master, Church Service Missionary, Home Teacher, and Primary Teacher. He was on the Ucon City Council. He has been Ucon Water Master for 45 years. He enjoyed hunting, talking about hunting, gardening, canning, and was an avid reader. Darrell is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Jane Farnsworth of Ucon, ID; daughter, Sue (Douglas) Wheeler of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Peggy (Gary) Rogers of Rexburg, ID; daughter, Cindy (Leslee) Andrus of Rexburg, ID; son, Doug (Lori) Farnsworth of Rigby, ID; son, Brian (Tammy) Farnsworth of Rigby, ID; daughter, Janeal (Daniel) Biggs of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Craig (Niki) Farnsworth of Pittsburg, KS; brother, Kenneth Farnsworth; sisters, Genevieve Cleverley, Beth Carlson, Ramona Excell, Elaine Chapman, and Donnetta Wright; 35 grandchildren and 53 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Byram, Jay, and Joe Farnsworth, and a sister, Maurine Collins, a son-in-law, Leslee Andrus, grandson, James Andrus and granddaughter, Rebecca Rogers. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2015, at Ucon LDS Monument Ward, 10854 North 41 East, with Bishop Rod South officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Ucon LDS Monument Ward, 10854 North 41 East, and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Both viewings will be at the church in Ucon. Burial will be in the Ucon Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
