Darold Greenhalgh

Darold Horace Greenhalgh, 93, of Idaho Falls, passed away February 9, 2011, in Idaho Falls, surrounded by his loving family. Darold was born February 3, 1918, in Montpelier, Idaho, to Harrison Franklin Greenhalgh and Ivy Geralda Tueller Greenhalgh. He attended schools in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. On November 24, 1937 he married Jacqueline "Jackie" Chivrell in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized July 29, 1972, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Darold owned the Flying A Gas Station on West Broadway, built fences, and worked as a Road Construction Supervisor for Burgraff Construction until his retirement. Jackie passed away July 19, 2006. After her death Darold lived with his daughter for three years and for the past nearly two years has lived at Turtle & Crane Assisted Living Center. Darold was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various capacities over the years. He was a Chaplain in the American Legion for many years, and was a member of the Forty and Eight, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Elk’s Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, gardening, traveling, and spending time with his family. Darold is survived by his son, Ralph H. (Janet) Greenhalgh of Ivins, UT; three daughters, Kathleen F. (Bill) Barlow of Puyallup, WA, Mary L. Greenhalgh and Pamela F. (Rod) Wadsworth, both of Idaho Falls, ID; a brother-in-law, Fremont (Claribel) McDonough of Shelley, ID; 16 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren and 19 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie, and a son, James H. Greenhalgh. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 12, 2011, at the Wood Funeral Home Chapel of the Pines, 273 N. Ridge, with his grandson, Darold Horkley, officiating. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 1 to 1:45 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be next to his beloved Jackie in Rose Hill Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
