Darlene Wilde

Darlene Simmons Wilde, 81, of Iona, passed away on December 3, 2015, at Lincoln Court Retirement Community. She was under the care of Encompass Hospice.

Darlene was born June 15,1934, to Earl and LaVada Simmons in Menan, Idaho. Her childhood was very simple. She loved playing with her sister Norma Jean. They would make paper dolls and play kick the can. Darlene attended school in LaBelle, Idaho, and Rigby High School. Later she earned her GED.

She met the man she would love for the rest of her life, Herb Wilde, while roller skating at Riverside Gardens in Rigby. They were married on August 4,1950, in Rigby, Idaho. They lived in Roberts, and then moved to Iona, where they spent the rest of their lives. Herb passed away May 24, 2010.

Darlene worked in the potato industry for 40 plus years and retired from Idaho Fresh Pack as a Lab Technician in 2000. She loved playing cards in her pinochle club. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, camping, and traveling. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Darlene was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a Primary teacher, Young Women's Leader, and Scout Leader.

She is survived by her sister Norma Jean (late Artell) Mugleston, brother Larry (Alta) Simmons, sons Cecil (Nancy) Wilde of Rigby, Gary (Lana) Wilde of Lewisville, and daughter Sheila (late Mike) Duffield of Beaverton, Oregon, 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, son-in-law Mike Duffield, and grandchild April Kay Wilde.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 8, 2015, at Iona LDS 5th Ward, 7555 North 55 East, with Bishop Lynn Rockwood officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, and from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
