Darlene Ruth "Dar" Russom, 74, passed away December 23, 2017, at The Gables of Ammon. She was under the care of Encompass Hospice. Dar was born May 30,1943, in Crawford, Nebraska, to Chris Peterson and Ruth (Pearson) Peterson. Dar and her mother moved to Texas to be near her father, who was in the Army, during World War II. The family later settled in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Dar graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1961. Dar had two sisters Chris and Carolyn. She loved spending time with them and later their families. Dar’s son Craig was born in Idaho Falls. When Craig was one, they moved together to Denver, Colorado. There she married LeRoy Russom. She happily helped raise her stepchildren. Dar and LeRoy later divorced. In 1989, she met her life partner Butch Carhart. The two traveled to many places including England, Florida, and New York City. They relocated to Hopewell Junction, New York, where they enjoyed life living on a boat. They settled in Little River, South Carolina, in 2014. There Dar enjoyed visiting with her many friends, playing bingo, reading, and feeding the turtles at the home she and Butch shared. Dar is survived by her son Craig (Pam) Russom, of Middleton, ID; sisters Carolyn (Kent) Curtis and Chris (Mike) Gneiting of Idaho Falls; grandson Ryan Russom of Pocatello; three great grandchildren; stepchildren LeRoy Russom Jr, Debra Griese, Larry Russom, and Dan Russom. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 5, 2017, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, in Idaho Falls. The Family will visit with friends from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. prior to services. Burial will be at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery in Idaho Falls.

2:00 PM ,Friday, January 5, 2018 Wood Funeral Home 273 North Ridge Avenue Idaho Falls, ID 83402 Notes: The family will visit with friends from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to services. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
